Snapped this at the ASU Research Park in Tempe, he's trying to stay in Daddy's shadow

Where's Phoenix?
This hand-made rock sign on the side of a mountain in east Mesa (or is it Apache Junction), points the way to the city, in case you've lost your bearings

Merry Christmas!
Here it is, Christmas Day, and I don't have any more Christmas pics; so, I thought I'd post a picture of what our city looks like at Christmastime - the same. No snow. But pretty! This was taken through Hole-In-The-Rock, a natural formation in a small mountain in the Papago Park, near the Phoenix Zoo - it's an easy hike up, and then you are looking out at the city through a cave

Wagon Wheel Window
This window is part of the San Tan Flats restaurant out in Queen Creek, a pretty cool place to check out - they are in a battle with the law right now, straight out of the Old West; the restaurant has an outdoor stage and live music, and the sheriff has determined they are operating a dancing hall without a proper dancin' hall license! One of these nights, I'll get some shots of the place at night - they have firepits all around, and a bag of marshmallows is on the menu

Chaos captured
Is there anything more chaotic than a preschool Christmas concert? I liked this picture because we caught the videocamera's view, which actually looks a lot less chaotic. My son is one of the little ones leaning over, trying to pick up the confetti so he could scatter it again - good times

A sort of foggy morn
It's been rainy the last couple of days, and this morning as the sun rose, there was fog on the water outside our house - it didn't show up very well at all, but it's still a peaceful picture

Flowers
This was taken about a month ago, it's a vine growing in one of our front porch pots - I think it's a snail vine? The flowers didn't last long, but they were pretty

A closer look
Another look at the Casa Grande Ruins from yesterday's photo - inside, there are carvings of people's names from the 1800's and early 1900's, as it wasn't actually protected as a monument until the early 1900's. The roof that stands over it was built in the 1930s

Indian ruins
We took a little road trip over the weekend and ended up checking out the Casa Grande Ruins, which are only about 30 miles from where we live. It was built by the Hohokam Indians, and is considered to be one of the largest prehistoric structures ever built in North America

Back to bridges
One last bridge photo that I forgot to post - this one is also at Canyon Lake; you may notice that there is no water under the bridge! That's because they are working on the dam and lowered the water level dramatically - we took lots of pics so my husband can see where the good fishing spots will be once the water is back

I love a parade
This was the Tempe holiday parade, which happened a couple weekends ago; nice, short, and sweet - a little tip: don't sit under the trees - the parade scares the poop out of the birds, literally!

Another bridge
This is looking the other direction from yesterday's photo; this is the railway bridge that crosses over Tempe Town Lake
I just took a look at my blog and noticed that it never posted yesterday's photo! I'm not sure why that is happening, but I went ahead and re-posted it

DP Theme Day - Bridge
On the first of every month, the Daily Photo community has a theme day, and December's theme is bridges. This bridge is at Canyon Lake, which is just southeast of Phoenix. It's a one-lane bridge, so you have to practice your courtesy and patience when you come up to it.
Take a tour of bridges around the world today at these participating Daily Photo sites:

Farming
This farm is out at a place called Agritopia, in Chandler I believe, or maybe it's in Gilbert - it's a working farm in the middle of suburbia, and they sell some of the stuff at their market, or use it at the restaurant.
I'm not sure why yesterday's photo never showed up, it looked fine in the draft form....?
