OK, I have to confess - this was actually preserved and safely under glass at the Mesa Southwest Museum. I've never actually seen a centipede like this one in nature, but I'm told they are out there! It's hard to tell the head from the tail, which is one of it's protective features - confuses predators, that sort of thing

I'm glad it is was under glass! I'm ok with a lot of insects, but this guy has too many legs for my comfort. This is a great shot!
I have! I lived in Mesa in the early 80's. Our first home had it's fair share.

Bravo on the Top 3, I've been wondering if others will catch on to my idea to spot light other photo blogs to help drive traffic their way.

The centipede looks dangerous, poisonous ...
I grew up in the Globe area and everytime it would rain alot we would get these "critters" in our yard/house. I have yet to see them anywhere else as big as they were there. I now live in Northern Arizona and I just saw a small one in my house, not nearly the size of the ones we had when I grew up. Thank goodness!
